Excellent photo!

We have a beautiful Peak called Monte Cristo in Washington also. This one in Utah is incredible.

Another technical route?

You know, Joe, when we were climbing up the last part of the ridge, I kept eyeing the south face of Monte Cristo - do you suppose there might be any good technical routes up the thing? I wonder what they would be rated?

I also noticed a few possibilities of some multipitch trad routes coming out of Lake Blanche.

Re: Another technical route?

One time I saw an entry in the summit register, which mentioned ascending via the south ridge of "Monte Cristo". I know there's some controversy over the names of Monte Cristo / Superior, and some people use the names interchangeably, so I just assumed they meant the south ridge of Superior. I guess its possible they actually did mean a direct ascent of M.C. It looks pretty steep though; I'd guess at least 5.8 or better, but really hard to tell from that distance. Why don't you give it a try and let us know

Re: Another technical route?

Hmm, I'd still think that those climbers would be referring to the S Ridge of Superior. The south side of Monte Cristo looks more like a face than a ridge to me . . .
