Lower north face of Big Four Mountain

At 1,900 feet, this is the lowest permanent ice in the entire Cascade Range. Meltwater from the cliffs above has formed attractive caves in the snow and ice below.

Very cool

Are those 'threads' of water ice, or liquid water?

If I remember right it was water. This was way back in 1980. Thanks for your comment, I'll keep looking for more interesting pictures to post---and go and look at your's again.
