"Luck's Still a Lady"

"Luck is a lady whose smile, Is as cold as a stone. She'll bring you things, Many things you might never have known. But when your die is cast, She'll have the final laugh at you ..." I don't know English poetry...

...but would like to know who wrote the poem above. I like it!

Re: I don't know English poetry...

The "poetic lyrics" were written by musicians
Dennis DeYoung and James Young in 1978, from
the Pieces of Eight album by the band "Styx."

In a follow-up interview, DeYoung explained:

The overall theme of the "Pieces of Eight" album is: "not giving up on your dreams just for the pursuit of money and material possessions."

Here's another cut off the album.
