Bike and Hike  Sucess!

Rode up Hathaway road to almost 3000 feet on my hardtail then hiked up the rest of the route from there. From the top I watched a thunderstorm engulf the Olympics that then engulfed me right when I got back to my bike.

Bike/hike  Sucess!

Hathaway, west side. A friendly dog followed us to the summit and back.

Lyman Hill  Sucess!

Took the electric bike out for a stretch. Started up from the Scott Paper Road and ran into some terrible tank traps and dug up culverts at about five miles in. Came out a different way (Pipeline Road), which is a much easier and shorter access.

Hathaway Road  Sucess!

Hathaway road switchbacks have been extended to about 3,000 ft. From the end of construction it was a short bushwhack to an abandoned logging road shown as a dashed line on the topo. This southward traversing road is being invaded by alders but is still easy to travel. Another short bushwhack straight uphill to the beginning of the summit spur road. Total bushwhack only a half mile. WA P3k 20/52

Lyman from W

I ran into nasty brush on a nasty November day and gave up. So I had to come back a second time for this one and the route was much smoother.

Via The "Dewey Approach"  Sucess!

I summited Lyman Hill via the western approach, which I have personally nicknamed the "Dewey Approach"... after local peakbagger Andy Dewey who provided a very useful account for the western approach only one year prior. The damp mossy and loose ground of the thick forests slowed down my ascent due to safety concerns (as I did not want to slip and slide), but the snow at the top of the mountain was much enjoyed.
