Gentle, scenic trail
The last bit up to Mahogany was gnarly, and there was still quite a bit of snow on the trail's upper reaches. Sprained my ankle at 11,000 feet but was able to walk down. Thankfully there ended up being another large group coming up so I wouldn't have been SOL if I encountered difficulties.
Nice, easy way to hike Telescope Peak. The dirt road leading up to the trailhead is drivable in any car, when the road is opened. Sometimes, due to flush-flods, NPS restrict the accest on to Emigrant Canyon Rd right from RT 190.

Tagged via Shorty's Well years ago. Easy hike despite the 50mph winds from Mahogany Flats. Grabbed Rogers and Bennett on the way out.

Day Hiked once, later as an overnight
This is a really nice hike and an excellent trail. The first time my wife and I did this as a day hike, the second as an Weekend overnighter camping on the ridgeline below the summit. Great way to do this enjoying both the sunrise and sunset. The weather was perfect, very clear and could easily see Whitney in the distance.

Mahogany Flats
Was able to drive more than a mile past the kilns, but the road was icy in spots. Very cool and crisp morning. A few icy patches on the trail right out of Mahogany Flat. The trial was clear of ice and snow most of the way up to the saddle. The wind was howling thru the saddle and along most of the high traverse. Once I reached the saddle below Telescope Peak the wind had subsided and the temps were very plesant. Mostly hard ice and snow made for nice cramponing up the ridge to the summit. Spectacular views from the top. Could see Charleston Peak to the East, the San Bernardino and San Gabriel Ranges to the South, White Mountains to the Northwest and the Sierras to the West. One of the best summit views I've ever seen from any mountain.
