Part of the Yosemite visit? The structure of the trunks is wonderful, great photo. Hate to admit but I live 45 minutes away and haven't been.

Re: Part of the Yosemite visit?Thank you Marmaduke. I too was amazed at the rough bark of the trees there.
Actually we were staying in SF and took a side trip here. Yosemite came after our time in Minden, NV.
Living so close, you really should visit!

I love redwoodsVery nice. The blue/greens contrasted with the red of the trunks gives an awesome balance of color in the shot. I did not know that interesting bit about the soil. Cool!
To see some serious monsters, one must head up to Humboldt or Del Norte county.

Re: I love redwoodsThank you! I agree about the colors; nicely contrasting. We were at Sequoia NP years ago and very impressed with the trees there too.

Thrilling trees ..I saw some serious monsters in 1989, 1994, and
2003, so guess I'm due for another trip.
Being a worry wart, I'm still concerned
about the cost of gasoline while traveling
through CA, but if I win the Lottery next
month I should be 'A'-Okay.
