Making Climbing Wands
No one owned wands and we estimated we would need 75 to mark our trail from where we would leave the Muir snowfield to nearly the summit of Little Tahoma. Friday night before our climb we worked assembly-line style to quickly manufacture the wands from bamboo garden stakes and duct tape.
