Nice report, Patrick! I didn't get near as lucky with the weather as we ended up bailing on the Bottomless Pit trail before we even got to the Y Couloir. The winds were fierce and a snow squall foiled our plans. Maybe next time!
Kevin, that sucks about the weather. I was sitting at my desk in Woodland Park on Saturday morning thinking about you guys. The wind was howling at 8900 ft. where I was, so I knew it had to be way more intense for you up high. Also, the mountain was peeking in and out of the clouds, so I figured you probably had snow to boot. Great thing about living in Colorado Springs is that you just go climb it another day!
It was a great weekend with a great friend and the excellent result of a fine summit. What struck me about our climb was all the history of Fred Barr, the Barr Camp and the Barr trail - all in the name of getting mules to the summit!
