man walking up to Paoma Shan monastery
I asked one of the monks at Paoma Shan monastery why this man was carrying a bushel of fruit, and he said that many come long distances to carry heavy baskets of offering because their crops may have gone bad, they may have a sick child, etc.
This old man was easily carrying 50+ pounds at approximately 3500 meters.
