Prior ascent in 1881?

Osvaldo, it's hard for me to read Italian, but I think the Bolletino del Club Alpino Italiano records an ascent of this peak in the late 19th century, so perhaps you were the second, not the first! See if you can use this link, and then go to page 465 (if not, I can post screen shots):

Re: Prior ascent in 1881?

Hi Osvaldo--
I was attracted to your page because I love the Aosta Valley (only one visit so far, though), and I found it so incredible that a named peak there would have been unclimbed until 1995. Well, maybe you are right. In the early days, some of the names seem to have been attached to different peaks. Look here on the left side, middle: https://www.yumpu.com/en/document/view/9311591/switzerland-and-the-adjacent-portions-of-italy-savoy-and-index-of/485
This might be telling us you could pay a guide 12F to take you up Marienhorn ... or maybe "Marienhorn" was actually Becca di Frudiera?
Cheers,
Chris
