Re: Beautiful!

It is quite dramatic, Vid.

What does it mean (on the annotated version) -- "Spik" or "Spica ?"
When I was a child, I watched a lot of
"vampire" movies where a wooden spike was driven into the heart of the demonic creature.

Or, am I barking up the wrong tree here, so to speak ?? :-)

Also ... what is grown in the golden field ?

Re: Beautiful!

You're very close to the right point Larry :)

'Spik' (Špik - I don't know if you're getting across the special character) and 'spica' (špica) both mean a mountain with a shape of a sharp cone peak, a mountain needle. And indeed, the word spica originally means a needle, a sharp point of anything. A church tower can have a špica, a wooden pole can have it, etc. The word spike has very likely a similar indo-european origin.

And these nice summits are doing the same thing. They are being driven into our demonic hearts, only that they don't bring only peace of mind :)

Cheers,
Vid

Re: Beautiful!

I love the Slavic churches shown by Czech, Poles and natives of Slovenia and Bosnia ...

medieval churches so colourful and uplifting,
with the blessed mountains as their eternal backdrop.

You are very lucky to live in such a land.
I will yes visit ... one of these days-- the Karst in particular!

Re: Beautiful!

If given the opportunity, I plan to run with it as fast as Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman) had to run when he chased the bride of Dracula through the dusty streets of Transylvania and into the
vast beyond.
