28 Peaks in 15 Days
We did the east side approach which featured some nice washes. Startled a fat dear in the second wash. We did Spirit Mountain later that afternoon.
Other peaks we did during this trip include; Potosi, Cheyenne, Muddy Mountain, Muddy Peak, Virgin, The Orphan, Silica Dome, Cairn, The Sentinel, East Redstone, Redstone, Mystery Cairn, Vista, Hayford, Clark, Spirit, Stepladder, Big Maria, False Maria, Black Butte, Chuckwalla, Pinto, Orocopia, Toro, Santa Rosa, and Thomas.
It was a beautiful day for a hike. We came back down the wash described by Dennis Poulin...very pretty but lots of dry waterfalls to maneuver through. Road is as bad as described. Register is located inside an ammunition box.

Not too exciting walking up various washes to the summit, but there are nice views from the top. Climbed the high point of the New York Mountains in the afternoon.

Thanks to Tracy who drove the west road & for repeating this one for me. Great day.

Ho Hum
Not my favorite mountain. In the words of another in the party, meh.

From Railroad Spring
Unusually cold and overcast (typical last winter gasp around Memorial Day in SoNV), making for great photos. Barry drove the hairy road, made more so by a recent off-road race banking up some stretches, and I hiked with David S. and Abby. Reasonably short and beautiful. DPS register was there at that time.

Beautiful day! Got a flat on the way to the trailhead, which lengthened our hike by a couple of miles. Also, the summit register is completely empty! No notebook, no pen -- nothing.

From Railroad Spring
Hiked this one with Al Sandorff and Steven Stembridge. We drove in from Jean, NV and hiked this one along with Peak 6955 (1 mile to the north) and Peak 5687 (1.5 miles to the west). We drove out south coming out at Nipton, CA. 4WD highly recommended (actually necessary) - in fact I got high centered on a boulder in my Jeep Wrangler trying to make it the last 500 feet to the "trailhead." Special thanks to Al and Steven for the muscle that helped get me off the boulder.
I did a very enjoyable repeat ascent of McCullough with Dean Molen on November 19, 2013.

Almost 9 miles roundtrip. The summit was rewarding with great 360 degree views.
