South Gully
Only 4 miles roundtrip, this rout is a solid challenge up this scrappy little peak, at least in single digit (Fahrenheit) temperatures. I thought we'd knock this out quickly and be able to get in another peak, but the rocks and downfall "sticks and stones" bushwhack took longer than anticipated. Great views from the top. Found the summit jar, but there was nothing to sign the register with.

Southwest Slope
Snowshoed the southwest slope to the summit of McGregor Mountain from the Fall River Visitor Center. The first thousand vertical feet required navigation over and around vegetation and fallen trees. The second thousand feet was more open but the snow was deeper. Clouds rolled in and blocked much of the views once I reached the summit, but overall it was just the right natural workout for me that day.

A Fun Rock
A fun rock. You can more or less just wonder up. No need to follow a particular route....which is good in my case since I usually get off route anyways!

Right Standard Route
I've done this wonderful climb about 25 times by several variations. My favorite is the Right Standard Route (5.7). I soloed it in 1980 ... one of the best days I've ever had on a rock.
And, I've been to the summit of McGregor Mountain, twice.
I've climbed several of the routes on the Slab as well as hiked to the true summit with my dad. Great little rock.

Left Standard
Climbed what we thought was Left Standard but it turned out to be more difficult than advertised (at least by our variation). The climbing was fun on nice rock. I'll definitely be back - Right Standard looks like a very cool route.
