Me on the approach to The Wave on the afternoon of July 5, 2003. It was only about 100 degrees Fahrenheit that day. If I had been there a couple of weeks later it probably would have been 110 degrees. At any rate, this is the west side of the northern end of Coyote Buttes. To the left out of sight is the way over the buttes one takes en route to The Wave. In a sense, the camera is pointing directly at The Wave but it is not visible and still about 2 miles away. At bottom right is the first semblance of the wash one can take northward (behind the camera) to get to the Wire Pass slot canyon.
