Some nice aspens...

Hello, I'm new to summitpost. Thanks for your vote - the photo of the bear is NOT mine. It was taken by a man living in Truckee, California. I put in on SP, because was a very successful rescue. Thanks for your interest. Cheers !!! You take wonderful photos.

Re: Some nice aspens...

Thank you for your kind words! Yes the story about the beautiful Sierra Bear is amazing..I am so happy it went well and there were people to help this Bear. I LOVE that picture of her or him :) Gorgeous Bear, so sweet they are.
The Aspens are not all that great this year the ones I saw..I hope to check out a few areas around Tahoe in the next week to see how they are doing.
Again thank you for your nice comment
Take care

Just curious...

Are you familiar with the book "Hiking in the Sierra Nevada," by LONELY PLANET? On bears:
"Never drop your backpack-that may be just what the bear wants."

Curious. Do you run into any signs of Mountain Lions or red fox on your hikes, or are THE BEARS taking over the place? The MEDIA would have us believe that they are. Comment?
Take care & happy trails!!!

Re: Just curious...

I have heard of that book..and need to get it one day! All my years of hiking in the Sierra I have never seen any Mountain Lions or foxes..and I have only seen one bear while out on a backpacking trip.
It is the media..the bears are not taking over the place..that is so crazy ridicules. Last years low snowfall has brought more bears searching for food and the Angora Fire here did not help things and just added to more of their natural foods being burned. If people take responsibility and keep their garbage in a bear proof container one should not have a problem..we have lived in bear country for 20 years and have never had a problem with any bears..I LOVE them all and wish I would see more of them..I feel very bad for them for the food source this year..all they are looking for is food.
Thank you for your interest....your pictures are beautiful..I love the desert ones especially :)

Thank you...

I like the word RESPONSIBILITY - there seems to be an over-abundance of EXCUSES. From the HUMAN side of the SPECTRUM.

The "desert" areas of Arizona/Utah are AWESOME -it just blew me away when I came here, and LEARNED how much WATER the deserts contain. I've seen bears in the Mazatzal Mountains and Mogollon Plateau areas near where I live - INCREDIBLE! Thanks for commenting, and enjoy life in Tahoe's Basin!
