Moapa Peak Cactus Gardens.

This scene is common on Moapa's flanks. I tried to count the various species of Cactus and Succulent plants in this photo... for someone who doesn't get much of an opportunity to visit the Mojave area this scene is pretty neat, especially against all that fantastic gray limestone. Also while up on the mountain on Memorial Day, and after reading other's accounts on the mountain here on SP, I kept my eyes out for rattle snakes and bighorn sheep. I didn't see any of those, though I did see plenty of small lizards and either bees or flies, the size of hummingbirds! One kept me company while on the summit. 5-28-2012.
