Modernizing the oldest tunnel in the Alps

This tunnel, the Buco di Viso, connects France and Italy some 70 meters below the Colle delle Traversette. It was built in 1479-1480. Apparently, after more than five centuries, it all of a sudden needed to be turned into a modern tunnel...
