Slept in the shelter  Sucess!

Ascent from Restonica in extreme strong winds which fortunately calmed down by afternoon when we reached the couloir. The shelter is very basic and has a permanent tenant in the form of a small fury animal (I guess it's some kind of dormouse, tried hard to get the food from our bags:)

Definitely worth sleeping there, don't miss the sunset and the sunrise!

Sleeping on top of Monte Rotondo  Sucess!

We were doing the GR20 and went up Monte Rotondo as a side trip. Wonderful views from the summit over most of the island! Really cold in the night but the sunrise maked up for that!

by lavu del'oriente  Sucess!

Ascent in 2 days from Restonica route. Night in Timozzo shelter, use of a snow couloir in the north cirque leading to the ridge west of Monte Rotondo, then easy ridge with some scrambling to the top.

Guagno-Petra Piana-Summit  Sucess!

In contrast to most of the summiters (who climb Monte Rotondo as part of their GR20 trip) we made a two-day trip and joined GR20 / Petra Piana hut from the west (see "Additions / Corrections").

Lac de Bellebone was still frozen and surrounded by some (flat) snowfields. Rest of the ascent was free from snow and more sort of hiking. The summit towers the whole Island like a castle! Stood up early and enjoyed a crisp panorama from Sardegna to Cap Corse...
The shelter below is primitive but floor and roof seem to be ok. Place for about six persons. As the Refuge is small and seems always to be crowded perhaps an alternative!
