"Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks. Great success shooting the knife into the piano. The woodworms are so bad and eat hell out of all furniture that you can always claim the woodworms did it."

Beginners stupidityThis was my first attempt climbing a mountain and we decided to do it in one day. I didn“t bring enough food or clothing for that matter and we did start towards the summit until around noon. Massive cloud system and electrical storm ended up turning us back less than 200 feet below the summit in the middle of the night. Definitely learned a lesson and will never do anything this stupid again.

A beautiful day! After picking up my permit that morning I didn't start hiking until 9:30, reached the summit at 3 pm, and back at parking at 6. Was a fun glissade in spots! South Spur route.

Long Day of Climbing on Mount Adams!Camped at Cold Springs Campground and started up Trail #183. Nearly got nailed by a huge rock that came tumbling down the steep slope but got out of the way in time. Made it up to the summit and back to the campground in one long day. Strenuous going up but definitely worth the view from the top. Glissade down was quite fast and fun!

Adams Glacier solo3 day trip, 2 nights at High Camp. Mostly steep snow. Crevasse navigation had me climbing about 25' of water ice on the far right at about 10.5k'. Had gear but didn't use it there. Descended N Cleaver, found a rap station to get to a decent snow field around 10k'. Mosquitos were bloody awful below 7k'.

South SpurGreat weather both days we were on the mountain. We camped around 8900 ft with relative privacy. Tons of places to choose from, where people have worked hard to create rock shelters (much appreciated).Long snow slog up with varying snow conditions in the morning hours. Only wished we would have brought crampons instead of microspikes during that part. Other than that, a simple snow hike up. Great views from the top, and the best glissading ever - over 2500ft of it on the way down!

Warm but funOvernighted at the Lunch Counter which was very warm. Mild overnight temps and a light freeze made for punchy snow until just under Pikers where it was bullet proof. Enjoyable walk to the summit. First Cascade climb! Trip report

Re: Mt Adams South SpurHi Jurgen, I haven't skied Adams yet. I agree, it's too late in the season for it to be worth it at this point. I will probably aim for a late winter/spring attempt next year and just plan on a very long approach.

1-nighter South SpurHiked in in the afternoon of July 8 and spent the night at around 8,000 ft near Crescent Glacier. 0700 start next day and summited with girlfriend at around 1PM. Snow pretty punchy most of the way, but epic glissade runs the whole way down.

Re: Mt Adams South SpurHi Chris
Sorry for my late response. Didn't notice your comment. Have you been able to climb the Mazama glacier and ski down? We met a couple from Canada that planned a ski descent for the day after we climbed Adams. I'm not sure whether this was the right time though. I would go a bit early in spring season.
