See Cornvallis entry below. Great hike. Peice of cake after Thielsen the day before. It has beautiful views of all the surrounding volcanoes and a very algae filled Diamond Lake. Not too much scree. This is a good hike if you are looking for something simple.

Route Climbed: Mt. Bailey Trail Date Climbed: July 27, 2003  Sucess!

Awoke just before 5AM to the silhouette of Mt. Bailey over Diamond Lake from my tent window at our lake side camp. Watched the first sun rays light up the mountain in shades of orange and red as we broke down camp and ate, what a beautiful morning! The hike up the mountain was gorgeous, amazing wildflowers from below timberline to the summit. The crater, rock window and entire summit ridge were great, with spectacular views of Thielsen, Diamond Peak & Lake, The Sister's, Crater Lake, Mt. Scott, Union Peak, Mt. McLoughlin, and even Mt. Shasta. Reached the summit by 10AM and it was already hot! Did Thielsen the day before, so Bailey capped off a very nice weekend. Had the entire mountain to ourselves then entire day! Fellow SummitPost Member annaleiserabinek and I were both pleasantly surprised at how beautiful Bailey and the views from it were. Very glad we decided to hike this mountain. Highly recommended, not to be overlooked!
