Had planned on climbing Oxford, but due to pouring rain and very low visibility we settled for only bagging Belford.
Did Belford and Oxford in one day. A long hike, but the weather held and the views were spectacular. I suppose I'll have to revisit the valley to tackle Missouri later!
Went up the switchbacks, over the top, and down via Elkhead Pass. Perfect weather & great views.
Did all three in one long day. Started at 3:40am and finished around 2pm. Did Missouri first then Belford and Oxford. For the stats sounding so huge, it really wan't to bad. Personally the switchbacks at the start of the trail were the toughest part up and down. Weather held up for most the day. On Belford we followed the ElkHead pass trail to save a little elevation and then cut over too the southwest ridge on Belford. Beautiful area, definately looks worth staying a couple days up in the gulch.
With Oxford, pretty long day, Great views.
Climbed in conjunction with Oxford. Went over and had a look at Missouri for a future climb.
Pulled off a triple or quad?. Missouri to Belford to Oxford to Belford. Over 7,500 ft. vertical in a day!
Oxford, Belford, Emarald, Iowa, Missouri, out. The plan was to cross to Columbia Harvard to a waiting motorcyclein missouri Basin...Moto wouldn't start. luckliy we found this out before heading out. So, we round tripped in and out of Pine Creek Basin. Gourgous. Dirk got sick after we hit the 3K feet gain in under an hour! Take that Roach ah!
One of my favorites of all! Awesome beauty, great fun trail (Missouri Gulch TH), and some pretty cool dudes seem to hang out up there too. :)
Rack up another 14er. YES!
Great climb via Missouri Trail. great company as well
I love getting up at 4am! On top by 7:30ish from camp near treeline. Ahhh. =)
Made the Belford summit in horrendous winds, strong enough to knock me off my feet. Got about 100 yds down the connecting ridge to Oxford before I realized that it wasn't happening. Hopefully Oxford will still be there next time I go back.
A great hike to knock off 2 14ers. During the descent we passed a guy in real trouble - he hadn't brought enough water or food for the hike. Fortunately most of us had more than we needed and saved his bacon!
Nice hike, good trail and excellent weather to do these two gentle giants. Three hours to Belford and 50 min, to the top of Oxford. Great views all around.
Loop via Elkhead Pass, over to Oxford and down the standard trail. Beautiful area!
walk up, over, and down. 2 peaks in a couple hours, easy, yet fun!
A couple of COOOOLD days in the mountains. My first day wearing crampons, woo hoo! Some partial frost bite but lots o fun.
Did the three-mountain traverse, car to car in 11 hours and 36 minutes.
