Mt Russell -> Mt Carillon, it is 40 minutes side walk.
Meh sort of peak, but views of Russell are outstanding.
Great views of Russell's east ridge and Lake Tulainyo below.
Went over the Russell-Carillon Col, climbing Carrillon and spending the night at Tulainyo for eary start and out on Russell's East Ridge. Tulainyo trips me out! What a lake.
First of two peaks this day. Noticed Bob Burd was the first entry in the newest register.
What a view of Whitney & Russell!
Tagged at the start of a Russell-Whitney-Muir daytrip.
Short and sweet after climbing Russell.
Sort of off the main summit, but counting it anyway.
15 minute round trip from Russell Carillon saddle, Russell was great.
Very easy from Russell/Carillon pass
If Russell scares the heck out of you, this is a great option and just next door!
Couple of good thundercracks as we scramble to the top, coming from Russell. Didn't stay long!
After coming out above the Carillon-Russell saddle (Rockwell Var.) I decided to do Russell first. This was fun too!!!
2007 Sierra Challenge bonus peak on the way to Russell. It was very windy but unfortunately the eponymous bell-tower music failed to materialize. x2 April 23, 2011 as a snow climb in a mild snowstorm.
A quick trip up from the saddle before climbing Russell's east ridge. I don't regret it.
Why not? If you are there for Russell you should stop by for a really good view of the East Ridge
Came out to climb Mt. Russell an Mt. Carillon with the Loma Prieta Sierra Club Peak Climbing Section. Did Carillon as a warm up for Mt. Russell the next day. You can see for miles.
