Route Climbed: Normal Route Date Climbed: august 2008
During a road trip in the United States in august 2008 I climbed Mount Chapin. Continued to Mount Chiquita and Mount Ypsilon. Mount Chapin is the warming-up for what is still to come and although is bypassed by a lot of hikers, it is very rewarding to climb the trilogy in one day...

From Chapin Pass
Took the use trail to the top of this peak with surprisingly expansive views of the park.
First car at Chapin pass on a Sunday morning at 6am. Summited promptly before going on to Chiquita and Ypsilon.
The CCY trek is a terrific intro to Alpine hiking!

Scramble
Went straight up talus slope of point 12,XXX that sits behind Chapin, then walked small saddle to summit. Good warm-up for the day.
Very nice 360 views except for what Chiquita blocks to your east, and a good acclimation-day objective for us flatlanders.

Elk Heaven
From Fall River road, my son and I went up Chapin, partly in the midst of a large herd of elk. Truly spectacular. We also saw elk in Estes Park when leaving before sunrise to get to trailhead.

From Fall River Road
Two days after Longs Peak we did the "easy triple" of Chapin, Chiquita, Ypsilon. Perfect weather all the way and we made friends with a Marmot who let me get within 3' to take his picture.

Mummy Mania
Started a little late, first Summit of Mummy Mania. We only got 5 done as a nasty storm chased us off Hagues at the last minute.

Chapin Pass Trailhead
First one at the trailhead at 6:15 AM. Only saw about a dozen people all day! Hiked to the false summit first, point 12392, followed by Mounts Chapin and Chiquita. Wonderful hike above treeline with awesome views.
