Mount Clements North Face Traverse

Mount Clements North Face Traverse

A view of Mount Clements' west ridge route, with the north face traverse indicated, as seen from the Going-to-the-Sun road near the Weeping Wall area. The west ridge route begins at the right-hand edge of the photo near Bird Woman Pass and follows the ridgeline left up to the summit. The pinnacles and summit block can be traversed on the south side of the ridge, but the north face traverse in red is the only safe route through the middle section just above the Great Notch. The rock along the traverse is fairly solid, but there are loose bits and thin spots along the way, and as the Empire State graphic shows, the exposure below the trail is substantial. It's a great route.
