Happy B-Day  Sucess!

Quick but beautiful drive to the top with my wife and friends. A great peak, can't wait to return and climb from the bottom up. Tomorrow Mount Davidson and then a long drive home.

Grew up in the East Bay, know I've hiked up this guy several times, but don't remember much. Hey, I was only 8 or 9. :)

but I've hiked it before. This one is significant because I proposed to my fiancee . . . so I'm definitely checking the "were you successful" box!

Up and Over  Sucess!

I didn't drive to the top. A friend of mine led us on a hike from the Morgan(?) Open Space all the way up, then all the way down Mitchell Canyon on the other side. Long day. I remember my feet hurt like a ------.

Route Climbed: Four Summits Trail Description Date Climbed: January 7, 2005  Sucess!

Usually take the Mitchell Canyon Road/Trail to the summit; however, having grown tired of the wide fire road look and feel to that route, I decided to try something different and took the "Four Summits" route description.

Route Climbed: Mt Olympia Trail Date Climbed: May 15, 2005  Sucess!

This is an awesome training hike. A typical coastal summit in terms of lots of poision oak and LOTS of ticks though. I think the description may over exagerate the steepness a bit. It is steep and sustained but I don't think there's any 45 or 50 degree sections. That said it's not for amateur hikers, there are some slippery must not fall here sections. Highly recommended.

Phenomenal summit views. Well above the clouds - that classic airplane view. Good stuff!

Route Climbed: Mount Diablo Scenic Drive Date Climbed: May 13, 2005  Sucess!

Drove up to the summit on my way to the Sacramento area for a pinball convention. Nice drive, great view, but a little hazy.

I'll need to come back in the winter after a storm to improve the view.

Route Climbed: Mitchell Canyon to Juniper Trail to Summit Trail Date Climbed: April 3,2004  Sucess!

Weather reports were calling from afternoon showers so I wanted to start fairly early. Unfortunately, I started a little later than I wanted, (just after 10:00 am). The trail was fairly empty, possibly due to weather reports. Only ran into three people on their way up the trail, and a few coming down the trail. The summit was almost empty when I reached it, save for a few people who drove or rode their bikes to the summit. The weather was cloudy and overcast so the views weren't the usual spectacular views from the Mt Diablo summit. After 15 to 20 minutes at the summit eating lunch, I headed back down and ran into quite a number of people who were on their way up one of the three trails. I reached my car at 5:00 and as I was driving down the entrance rode and leaving the park, the sky opened up and down came the rain. Hopefully those on their way up when I was on my down found a dry place.
