Scramble route
Great bang for the buck. Nice views, easy and quick walk up.

Lot of avalanches
Summited with three friends. Marvelous views of the surrounding peaks and the busy avalanche activity going on all over the place. Practiced glissading and self arresting techniques on the way down.
Via Saddleback Pass. Of all of the mountains I've climbed, I'd have to say this one has the best view of its close neighbors: the Mitre, Mt. Aberdeen, Lefroy, Victoria Glacier--stunning.
So many hikers on the mountain that day! The amazing glacier views sealed my fate as a scrambler, I'll have to go back sometime.

Saddleback
Climbed Mount Fairview during my first trip to Banff. Great view from the top and popular summit in the area. The Canadian Rockies were just as I imagined them to be. Very beautiful mountains.

Stole a day
Via the Saddleback route. Fine day out. Longer than anticipated due to the fact I had to retrace my steps to find my glasses which I dropped. All worked out though. Found them. Passed on this one over the years. Glad I took the time.

Took a friend who was visiting up Fairview for the spectacular view! Had hail and rain at the top, but the sun came out just as we were about to head down. It was nice because the summit was quieter than usual!
Route Climbed: Saddleback Date Climbed: August 15, 2005
The weather was a little crummy: we had a little rain and it was windy and quite chilly at the top, but the scenery up there is unbelievable. Dig those glaciers!
Route Climbed: Main trail/Scramble Date Climbed: July 2003
A nice hike, but too much of the trail is in the trees--reminded me of sulphur mountain! The roomy summit was beautiful and warm with hardly any wind. A lot of traffic, as this is high tourist area!
Route Climbed: Scramble Date Climbed: October, 2003
BJ (my dog) and I had snow from Lake Louise on up and were post holing it from the saddle to the summit (1200'). I could have used spikes (not crampons) on the trail (ice) on the way to the saddle. Going down was fast as it had softened by then.
The views are tremendous for such a small mountain with easy access. Haddo, Aberdeen, Temple, Valley of the Ten Peaks, Whyte, Niblock, Victoria and the Deathtrap, Daly, Richardson, etc. There appears to be no summit cairn or register.

Its a cakewalk to the saddleback, but then the last stint to the summit is a bit of a work out. Its an awesome short day trip. It took my friend and me 2 hours to reach the summit, and less than an hour and a half to come back down. The cairns at the top make for some awesome pictures. Don't forget your camera.
Route Climbed: The happy trail Date Climbed: July 1998
Climbed this one on my honeymoon. Highly recommended, the scenery to effort ratio is very high. If you have two legs that function, and are in the Lake Louise area, you have no excuse.
One of my former students with Down's Syndrome made it to the top so that he could climb a mountain his teacher had climbed. That makes Fairview special for me.

Route Climbed: Scramble Date Climbed: 21 June 2005Nice easy scramble in perfect weather on the longest day of the year. The views are definitely fair to say the least.
Watched two skiers on Aberdeen trigger a big avalanche. They both escaped unharmed.
