Great page. I can see this peak from my back deck. You can see some nasty Colorado weather in this area.

Nice page, but ...

This hike is NOT class 1. Class 1 is sidewalk or almost level, unobstructed trail with no obstacles. Not a difficult hike, but it is class 2.

Re: Nice page, but ...

The Barr Trail to the top of Pikes Peak is considered Class 1 with the top part through the 16 Golden Stairs considered difficult Class 1. If you stay on trail and follow the cairns I don't think the Mt. Herman trail is any more difficult than the Barr Trail. Just my opinion. Thanks for the input.

Mt Herman Rocks!

I, too, can see it from my back deck and have climbed it, gosh, over 25 times. There are some trails (albeit steeper) that lead to the top and just across the front. There is an almost 2000 foot elevation gain.

Oh, yeah, winter is amazing on the mountain. I've snowshoed through 3 feet of snow before - with a shit-ass grin on my face. Enjoy! The trail is usually nice and shady until you reach the rocky part leading to the summit.
