From Selden  Sucess!

No real challenges with this peak until the summit block. Lots of exposure getting to the very top, which is why I would call it class 4. The moves are not that tricky, but you sure don't want to mess them up!

from Hooper Diversion Dam  Sucess!

We climbed a class 3 gully to gain the ridge east of Chamberlain Lake (just north of an easier class 2-3 gully). Summitted, then backpacked to Marie Lake as a base camp to tag Senger, Turret, and Gemini before heading to Florence via the JMT.

2 Day Trip  Sucess!

My last trip in the Sierras, at least for a few years most likely. Got to enjoy some fantastic fall weather on a two day trip around Florence, up to Selden Pass, then back to the lake via Mt Hooper summit and the diversion dam. 22 SPS peaks (28 total) in my four years living near the Sierras :)

Hooper Diversion Dam  Sucess!

After driving across the river, I passed by several groups of car camping hunters/gun enthusiasts, including the same loud, incessantly shooting group that had caused me to change campsites two years prior. We parked near the last jeep road junction to sleep along the San Joaquin. I hiked up to Hooper Diversion TH and then to the west ridge of Chamberlain Peak with my dogs. I opted to skip an unresearched long traverse of the entire cirque and instead dropped down to a low area across Chamberlain Lake's outlet before hiking up to the northwest edge of Chamberlain Lake. We took a tedious route to gain the ridge. The ridge looked fun, but the dogs weren't into it, so we walked below it, eventually reaching the summit area after a long hike. The views made up for the tedious hike. Outstanding and far reaching! I coaxed the dogs into looping down the class 2-3 chute/gap in the northeast section of the cirque and around the south side of Chamberlain Lake followed by the long x-country hike back to the trailhead.

Diversion Dam  Sucess!

Good hike, nice views on top. Summited peak 11,600 to the south as well. Caught some nice goldens in Chamberlain Lake after summiting.

From the south  Sucess!

Hiked up the slope above Double Meadow just west of Alder Creek. Very little bushwacking, but beware of rattlesnakes. Did south crack on summit block. Returned via a traverse of peaks 11,481, 11,608 ("Chamberlain Peak" per summit register), point 11,215, and The Tombstone.

Diversion Dam  Sucess!

Straight up throught the woods from the diversion dam. The cross country travel was easy, no bushwacking. Did both routes on the summit block just for the joy of it.
