Routefinding. I climbed a ways up the Temple before realizing where I'd gone wrong. Cool, surreal summit plateau....

One short 4th class step and otherwise easy hiking and scrambling on a beautiful Thanksgiving day. I need to come back for the West Temple, which looks cool and is supposedly 5.6. Trip report.

East Face
We got a bit off route and went all the way to the deep notch - turns out that's the West Temple route! We back tracked and found the correct route. And thanks to hiking with the park archeologist, we were able to find the petroglyphs too! Lovely day and lovely views up there. This is my favorite next to Lady in the park thus far.
For anybody looking for some helpful GPS points, here is the "start" of the ramp route: N 37.19324 W 113.02850 (NAD 83) and a point along the route: N 37.19512 W 113.02821.

The Moody Spirit! Fun mountain that made me want to explore Zion more often.
11/30/14 Climbed the Cowboy Ridge with Sam. Took 10 hours car to car which includes an hour of relaxing on the summit with pictures. Beautiful climbs and View but loose!

Again on Oct 16, 2011. 85F at the parking lot, not enough water, bad leg cramps. When will I learn?

First real Zion summit
11/28/08 - The first peak I climbed in Zion after Angels Landing. Loved it! An unforgiving lesson in Zion micro-routefinding. On the descent we ended up flipping back through the images on my camera to reconstruct the point at which we topped out on the big summit plateau above the east face cliffs!
4/19/18 - Went back for Cowboy Ridge. Roped up for 3 short pitches. Fun route.

East Face
The approach was not much fun, but the actual climb along the east face was enjoyable. For the summit pyramid, I took a route along a fin that got into some Class 5 terrain, but the way down was just Class 2/3. I looked around up top but did not see a register.
