2AM start from GG to the summit on a one day presi traverse.
Also climbed on winter presi traverse in March 01. Great summit.
A lovely clear day to do the traverse.
Great weather, first mountain on northern presi traverse.
In fall it was great, but last winter was the best! Getting above treeline is amazing in the presi's when bluebird skies are out!
Did the presi traverse a couple of times and camped a few hunderd feet below the Hut in January(VERY COLD). One of my favorites in the Whites.
Title say it all. Came up the AT and the weather turned wicked. I think I will give up hiking on this date.
I did an Adams-Madison Combo. The Watson Trail was not such a hot descending route. Trip Report coming soon!
Windy but warm (-5C) and no clouds 'till the decent.
first summit on the traverse, great views of the other northern presidential peaks
After I climbed Mt. Adams I took the Gulfside trail to the Madison hut and went up the Osgood. Not hard, but I was tired from climbing Adams. Took Valley Way back down.
After spending the night at Madison Hut, the nasty weather finally lifted and Flanders and I bagged this one in the morning on our third day. Ninth and final peak on a south to north Presidential Traverse. Went down Valley Way and caught the shuttle back to Crawford Notch to the car to head to Maine. Nice morning with blue skies for the most part....finally!
Started in 1987 on Moosilauke at age 11, and steadily chipped away for 19 years. Up the Webster (Scout) Trail with my little brother, and we had a fine, fine day of it. A Long Trail Ale at the top was a fitting conclusion. Really enjoyed the day, and was glad my brother (an urbanite to the core!) joined me.
Overnighted in the Madison Hut and then went up and over Madison in the morning via the Osgood Trail. Great views and a very nice summit, except the weather was a little overcast and pretty windy at the top. Used the Osgood as a descent route, down to the Old Jackson Trail and then across to the car at Pinkham Notch...long descent.
I love this peak as I do all the Presidentials. Great views of the other peaks and of the Great North Woods.
first up madison then across star lake and up to adams
Once via Airline and Adams and once up Valley Way down Watson Path. View of Adams in hard to beat.
LOOKING FOR INFO ON PEOPLE THAT HIKED MOUNT MADISON ON JULY 29,1905. IS THERE A REGISTRY OR LOG ANY KNOWS ABOUT THAT FAR BACK. PLEASE POST ON MESSAGE BOARD.
8 peaks - we missed the last one on accident - in 19.8 miles. I slept REALLY well that night!
Day started in the 80's, but by the time we summited the temps were dropping, winds in excess of 60mph and horizontal rain.
