Short hike from the lodge. The view is better from the lodge than the summit, but the area is nice.

Classic HP
High point #13 for me. As part of a big loop from eastern MO, I drove in from the east and found the introduction of the Ozarks to be a pleasant prelude to the event, and the drive up 309 from Havana was beautiful; the park is well maintained for a stay in its own right, whether camping or at the lodge; finally, I like the fact that in the end, I got to do an actual short hike to the top (campground side) rather than simply hopping out of my car for a photo. After that, I took 309 to Paris, then on northwest to Bentonville and back to MO. I’d rate northwest AR as deserving of another visit.

Lodge Trailhead
I parked at the Lodge and walked slightly longer trail from that side. The trailhead is a couple hundred feet from the Lodge. The character Mattie Ross in the movie True Grit, said she was from "near Dardanelle in Yell County". This is just east of Magazine Mountain. Three other parties also visiting the highpoint. StHP #14

HP# 20
Quick little 1 1/2 day trip down to AR/LA to get a couple HPs to end the year and start the 4 day weekend. Didn't think they were going to be too spectacular after looking them up. But this one was surprisingly beautiful. I thought it was just an ugly foggy/hazy day driving up, until a certain point that it cleared up. And looking off the edge, it seemed it was just low-lying clouds in the valley. Just a short .5 mile hike from parking at the Lodge. No real view from the summit...just the sign, and USGS marker in a stone silhouette of the state. But view from the Lodge area and a scenic overlook were great.

This was a beautiful trail in a beautiful area! I enjoyed this "climb" so much. The summit marker is super cool as well. This is my favorite highpoint so far!

HP #26, Signal Hill on Mount Magazine, AR
Second attempt to summit in two weeks. First time about 10 inches of snow that was too deep for a 2WD vehicle, which my rental Suburban only had 2WD, an unpleasant surprise. Helped some locals pull a tourists' pick up truck out of a ditch on the final switchback before the trailhead. Park Ranger arrived and said 4WD required to complete the final 4 road miles of the 19 mile approach from Paris, AR. The 1.72 mile hike RT probably would have been a lot of fun if I could have made it to the trailhead. The second attempt no problem, no snow or ice, just sun and warm weather.

This is a great highpoint. The drive up route 309 was a series of switch backs and a pretty cool drive, the views into the Petit Jean River Valley were very nice. The hike to Signal Hill was very short but nice and the to scale (1 foot = 13 miles) stone map on the peak was a work of art.
Loved the views over at Cameron Bluff too.

Give the mountain its dignity and hike up from the visitor center. Plenty of views along the way - especially in winter with no foliage. A stop at the lodge gives views to the south too.

HP #41!
Unusual for this mountain to get so much snow, but I drove up and hiked 1.5 miles to the summit in an absolute white out! Supposedly when I hiked it it was the most snow this mountain had seen in 2 years.
This is Arkansas. I flew into Memphis. I then proceeded on a 1,955-mile road trip through the southern states to bag the highpoints in MO, AR, LA, FL, AL, and MS. Here is AR, highpoint number 19/51 for me and ranked 34/51. The overlook is a spot to visit as you will get the best views from here. I also went to the Highpoint tower and climbed to the top. It is steep, narrow, and a tad rickety (not for the faint-hearted)...
