That sounds like a "French" word.
Probably some French trappers and mountain
men scouting that area in the 1800s ???
Is the lake always that color, or was it
partly cloudy and the unusual lighting
turned it green on that particular day ?
What an awesome lake! I'd like to soak my
tired feet in that cool water! : )
Nobody fishing? Were there folks fishing
at Scout Lake ?? Nice picture ...
It was named after Professor Ray Marsell. He was a geologist at the University of Utah. The lake did have a green appearance from above and the weather was great. I had passed a few people who were fishing at Kamas Lake.
Thanks! This is a pretty area in the Uintas if you get a chance to visit.
I truly hope to visit, is that glacier water? The color seems that would be the case.. Beautiful!
These mountains were formed by glaciation but there are no active glaciers in the range today. There are a lot of lakes though, too many to count.
Congrats on POTD!
Thanks! Yes, this is the first week of July. There was still snow in the higher elevation peaks.
