Mount Masaraga
Failure #1 of the year so far was my attempt to climb Mount Masaraga. It started out rough. You are supposed to get a permit and a guide to do the climb, but I wasn't successful in getting either before the climb, despite a lot of searching. I decided to get a taxi to the trailhead and try and sort things out from there. I was able to finally get a willing guide, while someone went into town to get a permit. We set off in the rain.
As we climbed higher, the rains got heavier until they reached torrential in intensity. I didn't get many pictures today since it was a torrential downpour most of the attempt. What trail there was was basically a mudslide. I also got covered with leaches.
I have to admit that it wasn't my favorite hike and we made it about 3/4 of the way up before it was too dangerous to continue.
