Via Francis Lake  Sucess!

Very high summit, great view of many distant peaks, perfect weather, good access (if you know how to avoid the boulder fields and loose talus). A great way to spend a Sunday with my brother.

Rock Creek solitude  Sucess!

Didn't see anyone all day, except for three bighorn sheep. Great views. Much, much more rock than I thought though. Advise maybe doing this early season when there is snow, avoid some of the nasty boulder fields.

Outstanding  Sucess!

From Francis Lake  Sucess!

With Dave McLaughlin. An enjoyable slog (a paradoxical phrase?) up a mountain of significant height and a great view.

From Francis Lake  Sucess!

Followed BCL's decent tracks (see below) for much of the ascent. Perfect weather/views. Managed to avoid much of the talus on the decent by staying higher and sticking to the snow where I could.

Francis Lakes  Sucess!

Commanding views of the Little Lakes region redeem this otherwise uninterseting route.

P2K and pre-challenge warm-up  Sucess!

After a questionable start to the day at Tioga Pk, I thought there might be thunderstorms, rain, hail or snow, but everything turned out fine.

Great view  Sucess!

A fun climb. Great views of Mt. Abbot (1989) and Mt. Tom (1991). Climbed with Christine and Juli. Got chased off the summit by a thunderstorm.

via Francis Lake  Sucess!

Sierra Club Peak Climbing Section private trip - 6 women. we camped at Francis Lake and stuck to the ridgeline for some fun easy bouldering. All made it to the top. I had a fall on the way down and dove head first into a boulder - ouch! Thunderbumpers built up and we plunge-stepped as quickly as we could most of the way down the sandy drainage where we could. Much harder than I expected but I'm out of shape from a protracted injury recovery. Very fun trip!

Francis Lake  Sucess!

Sticking to the tops of the northern ridges after Francis Lake cuts down on the tedious talus. Little bit less then 5hrs CTC.

North Face Talus Field  Sucess!

Soloed up the blocky north face. Great view of Bear Creek Spire from the top.

From Francis lake  Sucess!

Clear day from Francis lake, lots of tedious boulder hoppin... at least its pretty solid and not loose. Regardless was a good day in the sierra

From Francis Lake  Sucess!

Sierra Club outing. About 2.7 miles from Rock Creek Lake to camp at Francis Lake, then the sub-ridge to the main ridge and the top. Great viewing peak.

Francis Lake  Sucess!

Fun climb. I found the terrain to be much better than I'd heard. Not very loose at all. I followed a gentle dry drainage up to the notch on the ridge and scambled up the stable talus from there. 3:15 up. Excellent views.

Francis Lake Trail  Sucess!

Perfect weather and spectacular views. The talus is usually wobbly which made for a suprisingly exhausting, but highly rewarding climb.
