Up the fairly boring fire road. Nice clear day but extremely windy.
Lots of New towers on the Summit.
most of the trail is up a fire road which is pretty boring and a very indirect hike, but the views from the top are pretty good.
After you finish this hike.
Nailed this one when I was in the Boy Scouts and a few times afterward. I hate hiking on roads.
What is better than dark chocolate and cabernet while star gazing off the summit! Nice bivy spot amng the rocks.
Climbed as part of a double bag of Fiske and St Helena.
Hiked up, jogged down.
Good training climb. Climbers path a bit shorter and steeper than the full road option
Perfect day for coastal range hike. It was clear to the north, so I saw Lassen and I think I saw Shasta. To the west I was able to make out the Crystal Range. To the south Diablo and Mt.Tam poke up above the fog. I saw only 2 people going up and lots of people on the way down. I did South, East, and North Peaks at 6 hours CTC.
...in Lake County. So I pass the Mountain and hike it every few years. Usually managed to find places to cut up through the brush to shorten the bordom of the lengthy switchbacks but this is one mountain that pretty much forces you to stay on the trail.
My wife and I were heading south when I decided to go for Mt. St. Helena and the Napa county highpoint. Today was pretty hot but overall this is basically a roadwalk. Several workers were installing some new stuff near the highpoint. Still, it was over 9 miles so a good workout. Will go after Vaca Peak in the a.m. and Copernicus after that before we head to Ventura and a visit with my wife's relatives.
Easy hike up the trail, then the fire road. Lots of rock climbers out and about.
Earlier this year rode my mountain bike to the top. Great ride back down...
Perfect first hike with girlfriend.
Was the first one up the mountain on a warm Memorial Day Sunday. Excellent views of the Napa valley. Make sure you visit the Napa county hp to the south! Lots of people coming up on my way down.
Originally planned to be on Casaval today, but conditions and forecast for Shasta did not cooperate. So, decided to go for a quick dayhike with the GF. Approximately 3 hours CTC, with decent views but hazy conditions and lots of people somewhat spoiled our fun.
Took my Boy Scout Troop to the top on a nice, but cold cloudy day.
I made it to the Napa Highpoint, but because the summit was completely enclosed in the clouds, my motivation to make it to the summit dwindled as I was a bit sick of walking in the fog. I resolved to return to the main summit on a clear day, now that I've bagged the county HP.
Edit: I forget the date but I did return to the true summit at a later time.
Sierra Club organized hike. Fun group of people. Remember it was hot hot hot. We also explored some of the old mining shafts/caves.
