Beautiful dayhike  Sucess!

Hiked this w/ my 12 week pregnant wife for a nice dayhike (she did a great job). Beautiful views of southern Oregon all the way up.

Main Trail  Sucess!

Jogged to summit and back in ~50 minutes capping off ~5k' and ~18miles of hiking for the day. Forest fire to the East and fiery sunset to the west made for dramatic views.

Great Scott!!  Sucess!

Nice little hike though I wasn't impressed with the views- much better from Watchman. Climbed in under 40 minutes without running.

Warm-Up Hike:  Sucess!

Climbed Mr. Scott as a warm up hike for the following day, when I climbed from Tipsoo Peak over to Howlock Mountain via the Sawtooth Ridge. Full report is here:

Great Day hike in Crater Lake  Sucess!

I went up Mt. Scott with a group of friends during a visit to Crater Lake. Nice and easy day hike to enjoy a spectacular aerial view of the lake.

Icy, very icy

Started up the guy, but it was getting dark and had to bail. South Sister the next day.

Traverse to Cascade Springs  Sucess!

Headed up the regular trail and then down the NE ridge to Cascade Springs. There are a lot of signs advising people to stay on the trail so if you want to do the same, I'd run it by the people at the Ranger Station first. The view is amazing and the hike up is easy enough.

I highly recommend a stay at Cascade Springs if you get a chance, not a soul in sight. There appeared to be a lot of deer/small animal traffic in the area, though we didn't see anything. Also you get a great view of the mountain.

Trail  Sucess!

First of 7 summits in 4 days. A nice little hike with what would have been good views w/o the smoke from 2 nearby fires. Passed 30+ people on the way up. Up in 50 minutes, down in 38.

No dogs allowed  Sucess!

No dogs allowed on the trail; and it is enforced. So our group of four (plus the dog) split into twos and climbed while the others drove around the rim. Nice sunny day; 50 minutes to the top; incredible views.

On the snow  Sucess!

I've climbed this in the summer and it's, of course, an easy hike to the top. Under the snow it was a steep and slick climb up icy snow in the trees. We camped right next to the ranger tower; it was beautiful. The approach to the base involved about 13 miles of snowshoeing.

fun!  Sucess!

Rain + a late start killed any other plans, plus it's always nice to visit beautiful Crater Lake. A nice, mellow hike with amazing views. Up & down in a little less than 3 hours.

Rain, sleet and snow in August  Sucess!

We hiked this trail after graduating from UO. It was maybe 38, maybe colder. The summit was socked in, but the observation hut was a nice thing to cower behind. Cool arrangement of firs- cali red, noble, black and several others. I'd like to see the view when there is one! Well, it is the peak of the park.
