A fine scramble with the caveat that you stay on the ridge proper. (The north side of the ridge is full of glacier debris and is ugly unstable.) Pleasantly surprised to find a few class 4 moves near the summit (right on the crest of the ridge).
A quick AM jaunt from camp at the nearby lake, before continuing on to Scylla and Reinstein. Trip report.
Worth it for the great views of Ionian Basin and Chasm Lake from the top. Hiked with René and a young man called Bryce who joined us on a whim from Muir Hut.
Did this as a side trip as part of a JMT thru hike that included lots of extra peaks. Went up with another JMT soloist - a 68 year old female peak bagger named Nancy. Couldn't believe how she just kept up with me the whole time thru the uneven and loose talus. Easy class 2 if you happen to be at Muir Pass.
A very long dayhike along with Scylla and Hansen. Trip Report.
Hour round-trip from the hut. Lots of scree, bring your poles.
Climbed during the third day of the Lamarck Col/Bishop Pass loop. I ascended via the north from Muir Pass. I wrote "Josh Lewis wishes he was here." on the register.
Ascended south ridge from Ionian Basin (used as exit instead of Wanda Pass -- only 600' difference). Descended via north face west of Muir Pass. Peak #9 on JMT adventure.
From a camp in Ionian Basin. Great views on a clear blue sky day!
A fun, easy jaunt from Muir Pass that provides some good views.
