A Grind
A solo dayhike from Sabrina to Haeckel Col and along the ridge. Interesting Class 4 & 5 down climbing. Enjoyed most of it, especially going back up to the Col. Jogged the trail to my truck in the dark. A fine fine day!

SE Ridge from Sapphire Lake
Camped at Sapphire Lake on JMT and went up the SE ridge on an off day from the JMT. Did not quite make it back to camp after lunch before the rain came. All of the comments about the view from this peak fail to do it justice; the views are simply incredible. You can see all of Evolution Lake and all of Evolution Valley from the peak, and this is definitely worth a visit just for that reason alone. The summit still had the old Sierra Club metal box with the register.

SC 2010
Tough day. Col was higher than the peak itself.

From Haeckel Col
Day 7 of the 2010 Sierra Challenge, moderate day overall. Trip Report.
Long-ass day, really felling fatigued from the SC. But I made it back. Sorry to not spend very much time in EVO basin this year: my fave place in the Sierra.

Up the south slopes from the Warlow Glacier, then descended the north ridge and down to camp at EVO Lake. Oh yeah, still had the full pack on.

Unexpected
I know it is not as high as its neighbors, but what a view! This log I am prouder to sign than for some higher peaks!
Great cross-country stroll via the benches below Mt Darwin, crossing the lake basin between Darwin and Spencer, going over the saddle, keep going in the lake basin south of Spencer, what a relaxing and inviting off-trail terrain! Unbelievable!
Easy climb, kinda fun, wish we had taken a longer technical route on the north face. Excellent views, especially of nearby Mount Darwin and Evolution Basin.

Route Climbed: East ridge Date Climbed: October 2003Despite being the lowest peak around, the views were fantastic. Absolutely worth the side trip. Easy class 2 from the basin to the south
