Scramble from trail to Little Beehive  Sucess!

This was a fun little climb. There is a very notable switchback trail to the col and then it is a quick climb across the boulders to the summit. My sister accompanied me and this was her first summit in the Rockies. Saw a golden eagle soaring above the summit. Great morning (half day round trip) hike from Lake Louise.

Rain, Hail and Snow  Sucess!

A nice hike and we had the mountain to ourselves, maybe because of the weather. We had about 30 seconds to get some photos, the fog rolled in we couldn't see a thing. We hit rain, hail and snow on the way down. View could have been wonderful.

Quick and easy  Sucess!

Went down the back side towards the Piran-Niblock col. Don't know how so many people get lost going down this way. I would have continued to Devil's Thumb and the Beehive, but I got off to a late start. Next time, I'll leave early and combine it with an ascent of Niblock/Whyte.

Normal Route  Sucess!

A very easy hike/scramble with awesome views of the giants of the Lake Louise area. Continued on after to do the Plain of the 6 Glaciers hike which was an excellent addition to the day. Had good weather with a bit of cloud and breeze to take some of the edge off the heat. A great day overall - too many people everywhere though!

Snow Climb  Sucess!

From the trail, which dissappeared quickly under snow shortly after leaving the Little Beehive trail. Postholed to the waist most of the way. Climbed some rock bands/ribs near the summit to get out of the snow. Great views.

Magnificent  Sucess!

Up via Agnes Lake, down via Goat Pass. Fun, taxing and grand. Everything I wanted in a hike. The jaw dropping view of Victoria Peak and the lakes will never be forgotten.

Excellent spring day  Sucess!

Great day with Lawrence Marler and Jonathan Stanley. Good snow conditions with almost no postholing. Clouds broke on summit to allow us the fine views of the surrounding snow laden peaks. Jonathan made a ski ascent and descent,

normal scramble traverse  Sucess!

For my second hike of the day, I was glad the trail was gentle. Actually, there were a lot more switchbacks than I expected. The optional traverse to the col and then back to Lake Agnes was steep but uneventful. Saw two other scramblers preparing to descend from Mt. Whyte and looked like they were having some troubles finding their way down. The only good thing about the optional traverse was that Devil's Thumb was close by and I decided to do that hike as well. The view of Lake Louise and Lake Agnes from Devil's thumb is magnificent and I would recommend doing it even though it might be touristy. A warm day as I was in shorts and t-shirt the whole day. Crux of the day was trying to find parking at Lake Louise at 1:00 pm.

Route Climbed: East Face Date Climbed: May 25 2005  Sucess!

Took a large group of out-of-country guests up in May 2005. We took the direct line up the rocks, on the left side of the first gulley, which provided a bit of exciting scrambling. The snow conditions in the gulleys were brilliant and this was a fairly long and very fun glissade on the way down! The pikas made an appearance as well.

This is a nice, easy hike to the summit with a rewarding view of Lake Louise, Lake Agnes, Mount Fairview and many others. Lots of Pikas on the way up!
