Brought mountaineering axe and winter gear. It was a tough climb ;).
some sunflowers by the road, but not any at the actual high point. Good reward for a nice long day of driving.
A scorcher of a day - 100's throughout the region. But a nice drive along quite a few dusty roads that my gps didn't know about, and I somehow managed to find it - then relied on instinct to get me on a main road back to Colorado...
Cool artwork there, signed the log... I wonder if anyone really checks those things or does anything with them...
my first highpoint in a jeep. did a cool timelapse with sunrise. Drove Straight from highpoint #4 black mesa ok.
Atleast all the dirt roads were fairly smooth. Worth seeing a part of the country that I wouldn't have seen otherwise.
We parked at the cattle guard so we would at least have a nice walk to stretch our legs. This “summit” fits in the category of a drive across country we otherwise wouldn’t have seen.
This was my second high point. Accomplished the drive following getting promoted to Capt in the USAF down in Oklahoma. Great trip, awesome sunset.
After climbing Elbert in CO the day before, I was ready for an easy one! Thanks to the property owners for their hospitality! If you take your time and look around, there really is a lot to see! (just watch where you step)
Buffalo, cattle and antelope. What it lacks in height, it makes up for in creativity at the summit.
Whew! What a hike!
Had the summit all to myself :) Beautiful place, actually.
This was our family's third high point. We took a detour during our trip to Utah to visit Mount Sunflower. It was a great break for the kids to stretch their legs after nine hours on the road. Every place has it's unique beauty, and Mt. Sunflower was very enjoyable.
Made many of my extended family detour up this summit while on a family reunion driving between Denver and Missouri. Pictures of highpoint at http://www.willhiteweb.com/state_highpoint/kansas/mount_sunflower_116.htm
this is my most favorite summit photo, i picked a sunflower and it looks so great w/the metal sunflower in the background. finding it was weird and the wind was ripp'n but it was great !
climbed this one with my uncle went from the entrance to the top to get the full experience
"Bagged" this one on a drive from FL to CO. Bitterly cold and windy.
Early morning sunrise!
Nice day with Blue Skies.
