Did several pitches of ice climbing on the way to summit and descended the perfectly packed summit trail.
Ice climb up Lower and Upper Hitchcock, then hiked the rest to the summit for a spectacular view of Crawford Notch before hiking out via the Mount Willard trail.
Nice March ascent. Conditions were good on the entire route.
This was a very fun summit. My favorite winter hike in New Hampshire.
Pleasant little peak - winter wonderland scenes all along the trail, good views at the top. Pretty crowded on a Saturday.
Gorgeous day, very few people on the trail, awesome views for an easy hike up.
Clear and beautiful
What a great lil mountain. As someone said at the top "Great reward for minimal effort." Will to try in the snow
Easy winter climb with a fantastic view of crawford notch. Great climb if you have a couple free hours.
Wonderful snowshoe to work off all that we had eatent the previous day.
Every winter my partner and I climb most of these routes. One of my favs is up Cinema, bushwack left thru the trees and top out on Cauliflower Gully. Or, bushwack right and climb the second pitch of Hitchcock. Had a nasty screamer on Geat Madness back in 06.
Climbed Hitchcock once to the summit and then rapped back down the Gully. Another time we climbed lower Hitchcock and then climbed the "Cleft" on the right to the top. Never topped out the face via a rock route. I've only gone up to the Tree Ledge on Across the Universe.
7-09 Finally linked Across the Universe into End of the Universe to the top. A very good 8 pitch route with only a half a pitch of loosey goosey at the top. Also linked cinema into Cauliflower last winter for another good linky...
Climbed up a gully on the East face in 5 pitches. My first technical climb of a mountain. Made our way through the woods to the overlook. It was quite stormy and it began to snow just as we started walking down the Mt Willard trail. Great climb!
Both times were the same; Clear day in the 30's with views to die for.
