From Wilson

Both the use trails from the SW and SE have become horribly overgrown. Did not feel like bushwhacking, especially with intense heat and rattlers on the move, so I gave up. Nice views on the toll road, though.

Bailey Canyon Park  Sucess!

Out and back to Jones, Hastings, and Yale starting at Bailey Canyon Park. The starting point for Mt. Yale from the east is a little hard to spot with a faded ribbon very near to the ground and a somewhat inconspicuos duck, but once on the use trail, it is easy to follow to the top.

Bailey Canyon / Southwest Ridge Route  Sucess!

Up through Bailey Canyon and across the northwest ridge from Jones Peak. After cutting across Mt. Wilson Toll Road took the faint overgrown use trail to access the Southwest Ridge. Nice little scramble with good views.

via Bailey Canyon  Sucess!

Hiked on the way to Mt. Wilson. Found the use trail (thx for the good beta: 50 yds East of Bailey Canyon trail on Toll Road), very overgrown, glad I zipped on my pant legs.

Rarely visited peak  Sucess!

Hiked up the Mount Wilson Trail to Jones Peak via the Connector trail and further via Mount Haskins to Mount Yale. Southwest ridge of Mount Yale was heavily overgrown. Long pants and shirt are highly recommended. One of the best views from the top in the front range of the San Gabriels.

Up the Toll Road  Sucess!

Went up the toll road from Eaton Canyon Nature Center. I never really found the use trail, but made it up and down anyway.

Interesting Loop  Sucess!

I started at Little Santa Anite trailhead and ascended the steep SE ridge firebreak directly to Jones Peak. From there followed ridge over Hastings to tollroad. I ascended from the east to Yale and then took the Manzanita Ridge trail back down Little Santa Anita.

great view  Sucess!

I hiked down to this cool peak from Mount Wilson. It had a very great view of the city, maybe the best in the front range.

Southwest Ridge Route  Sucess!

As of the date of my hike up this ridge, it was greatly overgrown in a lot of places. I paid the price for not wearing long pants and long sleeves when having to part sharp Buckthorn bushes to make a path for myself. The views are great for a sub-5,000 foot peak. I came up through Bailey Canyon and across the northwest ridge from Jones Peak.
