Mountain Ash

Mountain Ash

Mountain Ash (Sorbus aucuparia) photographed on Mount Grzywacka. Mountain Ash is also sometimes called Rowan. The tree is very tolerant of cold and is often found on mountains. It does well in poor soils. Raw fruits are not edible, but they are rich in vitamin C and can be consumed after processing into marmolade or jello. The Low Beskid - August 2007.
