Mountain Lady-slipper (Cypripedium montanum)

Mountain Lady-slipper (Cypripedium montanum)

Mountain lady slipper (Cypripedium montanum) from the Pack River in north Idaho. Generally this showy species only has one or two flowers per plant with occasionally three on solitary stems. To find so many plants in a cluster with this many flowers was an amazing find. A lucky day. June 1996.

One day I'll find this

Cypripedium montanum is supposed to occur in the Sierra Nevada. I haven't seen it yet but I'm sure some day I will!
