Looking forward to the page

I've always noticed Peavine Peak during the numerous times i've been in Reno but never get a chance to bag it.

I'm chuckling

I've been wondering if this hill in my backyard would ever be listed.....it's a fun afternoon mountain bike ride to the summit from UNR, but "bagging Peavine"? Sorry, that just made me laugh. Don't forget Rattlesnake.

Re: I'm chuckling

You ARE hard-core to call an 8,266 ft mountain a "hill". It is almost 3,000 feet up from its base which is more elevation gain than most of the "hills" that can be hiked around Lake Tahoe.

Re: I'm chuckling

That's why I MTB Tahoe and hike elsewhere. I've never been up Mt. Rose, and I've been in the area for nearly 30 years. And yes, Peavine is the epitome of the "Hill in the Backyard". Of course, the wide bladed road to the top could make a great hiking trail....

Pevine peak Snow

I would disagree with the statement that Peavine rarely has snow. In fact people normally won't start planting until the snow is off peavine. I have been on peavine many times when there is a substantial amount of snow.
Welcome to Reno, I recently moved from Reno after nearly 40 years.
