Condition of Refugio Road north of the pass

The road on the north side of Refugio Pass that leads to/from the town of Santa Ynez is drivable with a high clearance vehicle. We made it (going up) in a Ford Escape. We didn't go back down that way. When coming from the north (from town), the road is quite good to here. Ignore the "road closed ahead" sign. At this point (~740 ft) there is a block across the road with a Road Closed sign affixed to it. Ignore the block and sign and drive around it. Slowly make your way up to the pass. The road alternates between being rutted and rocky, and sometimes both.
