Nice page :-) I talked to Larry yesterday and he remembered you doing this day-hike.
As of February 26th, 2022 the trail from The Hoist to the summit of VDC is completely clear for foot traffic. There are some downed logs that would give horses trouble, but as Ventana trails go, this route is in pristine condition.
