One bit of info I'd like to see added would be the elevation you drive to. Would help many assess what effort summit day would require and have some bearing on acclimatisation too.

Thanks, but I think your picture is captioned wrong, it looks like Hualca Hualca to me. I doubt that you can see Sabancaya from Cabana Conde, because it is behind and lower than Hualca Hualca. Please look at this photo http://www.summitpost.org/view_object.php?object_id=426289 on the Sabancaya page, it is taken from the summit of Sabancaya looking at Hualca Hualca. It has the same sharp point and ridge line as your photo, just from the other side. Sabancaya is very smooth and rounded on top. Vic
try to submit on 01/08/2012 (with little hope due to insufficient acclimatization)
the road to base camp is easy to find, you can really get lost, you just need to turn right at some point in directions of the volcanoes (as mentioned, you have a 2nd chance to turn right)
the last meters of the road to base cmap is quite bad, but it s ok with 4wd on low gear.
Base camp is at around 5000m.
in july 2012, iced snow whas present from 5300m and ice and snow everywhere from 5600m, some very hard ice requiring ice equiment...
as other mountains seen in peru, the northern side was probably snow free at that time of the year but was 50/100m short to check it!
anyway, i could not go further than 5500m because of terrible headache !
nice offroad and nice hike to acclimitize thoug...!
