Goli Otok below Velebit

Goli Otok below Velebit

View from Adriatic road, whose part stretches along the whole Velebit coast, towards Goli Otok (227m). Behind is Grgur (225m) while all the way back is part of long Cres (650m) island. Goli Otok (naked island), as its name says, is naked because of Bura wind which blows from mountain so forcefully that nothing can grow. This is the case with all islands that are facing Velebit. Along the whole coast of Velebit views like this follow you and are really fascinating. From top of the mountain islands appear like from an airplane. Photo: Aleksandar Gospic

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Nice pix of the islands and Channel. Perhaps Odysseus sailed past here on the way back to Ithaca!

Re: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Thanks Mark! Same wishes to You and Your family! Who knows, maybe he did make all the way to north Adriatic. Some islands of mid and south Adriatic, like Mljet and Palagruza, are mentioned like his possible stops.
