drove 2wd Dodge with Scott to base of Lola North. the broken bridge is still good enough for truck to drive across. Tagged it then walked the ridge to Lola. Cold and windy.
After doing Old Man in the AM, drove to the Lola TH and hiked up first to Lola North then to Lola, making for a nice partial loop. Trip report is HERE
Routine hike with Lola North Peak.
Long slog due to soft snow.
The trail is easy to follow, the only possible confusion is when it follows a jeep road for awhile. Shortly after the broken down bridge it goes off to the left. Coming back I notice bike tire tracks on what appears to be a use trail on the left side of the road, but I didn't follow it. It appeared to merge with the trail again right where it first met the road.
I also hiked over to North Lola, which is at the far end of the ridge between the two peaks. There are summit registers on both peaks. Round trip time was 4:24.
English Mountain in the morning, Mount Lola and Mount Lola North in the afternoon
This was a quick ascent via a apur road above the meadows with fellow county highpointers. We then headed up the gentle ridge to the summit of Mt Lola proper.
Parked at the 8,500 ft spur road and hiked this one with 10 other county highpointers! Followed it up with Lola herself.
Over from Lola, and then down the NE ridge from here back to the trail. Complete solitude.
Met the small summit of Lola North after visiting with Mt. Lola and then continued down the north ridge for the descent which turned out the funnest part of the hike. Great weather, really great views and lots of privacy in this part of the Sierras.
Did this one first and then continued on to the real Mt. Lola. Nice alpine ridge amble.
Does anybody visit this bump who isn't a CoHPer? Trip Report
Hiked over after summiting Mt Lola. Beautiful view of the Sierra Valley. Returned to the trail head via an unmarked cross-country route.
A nice hike getting two highpoints. Meeting Dean along the way made it great day. Trip Report
Tagged Mt. Lola first then headed over to Lola North. Cold and windy and the views were a little hazy. Headed straight down the each face and picked up the logging roads for an easy hike out. Didn't see anyone else the entire day. Nice Hike.
Hiked this along with Mt. Lola with Sady. Cool area and beautiful views of the northern sierras. A good day of county highpointing!
Tagged Lola first and then hiked over to No. Lola. Then headed down cross country to the trail and ran into SP member Keema on his way up the trail. We had a nice chat and even though we had never met each face to face before, we had talked on the phone a year or so earlier. Small world.
Bagged LN after tagging Mt. Lola on a solo hike. It was a very enlightening hike, seeing as I saw only one person on the entire 11 mile hike!
